Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)

Monthly recurring revenue is the sum of all subscription revenue a business collects each month, normalized to a monthly figure regardless of billing frequency. It’s the north-star metric for subscription businesses.

MRR is more revealing than total revenue because it strips out one-off spikes and shows the underlying trajectory. A business with $50K MRR and 10% monthly growth is more valuable than one with $500K in one-off project revenue and no repeat business.
