Scroll Stopper

A scroll stopper is the first second or first frame of an ad or post that interrupts a viewer’s scrolling behavior. It’s usually visual: a face making eye contact, a bold on-screen text, an unexpected object, a fast motion.

On paid social, the scroll stopper carries roughly 50% of the ad’s job. If viewers scroll past in the first second, everything after is wasted spend.
