Attribution Model

An attribution model is the set of rules that assigns credit for a conversion across multiple marketing touchpoints. Common models: first-touch, last-touch, linear, time-decay, position-based, and data-driven.

No model is “right” because attribution is a philosophical choice about what deserves credit. What matters is picking one, using it consistently, and understanding what it under- and over-values so you don’t optimize into bad decisions.
