Marketing Qualified Lead (MQL)

A marketing qualified lead is a prospect who has demonstrated enough interest and fit signals to be considered ready for further marketing attention but not yet ready for sales. Definition varies by business.

MQL definitions get abused: sales teams complain that MQLs aren’t qualified, marketing teams complain that sales rejects legitimate MQLs. The fix is a jointly agreed definition with clear behavioral thresholds.
